Dr. Karras is a professor of history at the University of Minnesota, as well as the General Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Press’s Middle Ages Series and co-editor of the journal Gender & History. She is the author of five books and numerous articles on various aspects of medieval social and cultural history, gender, and sexuality. Her current research focuses on the various ways male friendship was constructed during the Middle Ages, in military and non-military contexts, across both Christian and Jewish cultures. She is also currently co-editing the Oxford Handbook of Women and Gender in Medieval Europe with Judith M. Bennett.
